CCTV Focus! SCIYON has successfully facilitated the commercial operation of the world's first commercial supercritical carbon dioxide generator set, "Super Carbon One"
On December 20, the first commercial operation of the world 's supercritical carbon dioxide generator set was witnessed and the brand launch ceremony of "Super Carbon One" was grandly held in Liupanshui, Guizhou Province, marking the world' s first commercial application of supercritical carbon dioxide power generation technology. The supercritical carbon dioxide power generation Technology Industry Alliance was officially established at the same time.
SCIYON, as a project cooperation enterprise and a member of the Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Power Generation Technology Industry Alliance, was invited to attend and witness the release event. The global demonstration project of the supercritical carbon dioxide waste heat power generation technology "Super Carbon One", an example of progress in power generation technology, has attracted the attention and coverage of central and local mainstream media such as CCTV News Broadcast, People's Daily Online, Xinhua News Agency, and has gone viral across the Internet.

The "Super Carbon One" demonstration project is the world's first 2× 15-megawatt supercritical carbon dioxide sintering waste heat power generation project jointly promoted by China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute of China National Nuclear Corporation, Shougang Shuigang and Jinan Iron & Steel International. Compared with the current sintering waste heat steam power generation technology, the "Super Carbon One" power generation efficiency is increased by more than 85%, net power generation is increased by more than 50%, while the system is simplified, the equipment is reduced, the operation and maintenance are convenient, and the site requirements are reduced by 50%. It will generate about 230 million kWh of electricity annually and reduce energy consumption in the sintering process by 7kgce/t, contributing to the achievement of the "dual carbon" goals. SCIYON provides it with a complete set of process system DCS and turbine generator set DEH+ETS+TSI+EH systems, deeply empowering the "new engine" of energy innovation.

Meanwhile, "Thanks to the material properties of supercritical carbon dioxide, 'Super Carbon One' has the core advantages of high efficiency, compact system, few auxiliary systems and strong mobility, which helps to break through the technical bottleneck of efficient utilization of medium and low power scale and medium and high temperature heat sources worldwide and accelerate the formation of new quality productivity." "Through efficient thermoelectric conversion, it can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower environmental impact, promote green and low-carbon transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, and is expected to expand to larger power and higher temperature application scenarios, combined with various heat sources to form power generation systems," said Huang Yanping, chief designer of "Super Carbon One" at China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute of China National Nuclear Corporation It has a promising application prospect in areas such as solar thermal power generation, waste heat power generation, and energy storage power generation.
This commercial operation marks the first time in the world that supercritical carbon dioxide power generation technology has been brought from the laboratory to commercial use, which is a milestone.
As one of the key supports for this milestone project, SCIYON will continue to delve deeply into the fields of new energy storage and heat exchange technologies, contributing more SCIYON strength to building a safe, efficient and clean new energy system and achieving the "dual carbon" strategic goals.
